Mission Statement

Little Stars Daycare is dedicated to providing children 15 months to 5 years with a developmentally appropriate, quality program that helps the child to learn and grow to the fullest potential.

We believe that all children are competent, capable, curious, and rich in potential. We aim to provide a safe and healthy environment and warm consistent care to teach and nurture children in a loving, respectful manner.

Our goal is to meet the individual needs of the parents and children and to enrich each child’s emotional well-being and cognitive stimulation by providing child-initiated and adult-supported learning experiences that foster the children’s exploration, play, and creativity. We know that young children thrive in all areas of development when they are in supportive, caring and responsive relationships with adults. All young children are curious and they explore their world through play; that is also how they learn- this is the foundation of quality child care. Play is enjoyable, spontaneous, active and undertaken without external goals. When this natural activity is supported, the child’s competence, capacity and potential are maximized. Your child will be doing all the things your child wants to do. There will be storytelling, time to play with the blocks, opportunities to count and compare, time to make pictures, sing and to make-believe. Your child will experience the world through exploration, investigation and self-regulation inside the classroom and outdoors.

Children have the opportunity to make choices during indoor and outdoor play. When they go outside, learning is continued. We reach out to our community through local community walks, or special guests that visit our program. The outdoor learning environment provides extended opportunities for all elements of learning; from gross motor development, nature exploration, independent and cooperative games. When weather is inclement alternative activities for the children will be provided in the classrooms.

We view a positive, supportive relationship between the children and teachers as a fundamental. Throughout the day, the teachers will be:
  • Connecting with children by being available, sensitive, responsive, approachable, caring, and comforting. This is the way they build trust, making children feel safe and secure. From this stage, relationships are made so that children discover, take risks, grow and learn.

  • Supporting you in your role as a parent; helping with situations (ex: potty training, transition periods, behaviour management, etc).

  • Providing a safe environment for your child by preparing spaces that are more beneficial to learning.

  • Carefully observing your child to determine what they are capable of learning and absorbing.

  • Actively participating in your child’s play experiences through observing and documenting the milestones in your child’s life to ensure age-appropriate development.

We have created a positive learning environment where stimulating interactions take place with peers and teachers to support children’s learning and development. Our teacher’s further support children’s self-regulation through play partner interactions by following the lead of children, observing their interests, and how they interact with others and the physical environment. Through continual observation and attention, our teachers support children in developing strategies to remain calm and to control their emotions while recognizing the effects of their actions on others. Teachers plan based on observations they make of the children each day, that way we can ensure we are implementing activities that are based off of what the children are interested in. We foster ongoing communication and partnerships with parents, community partners, teachers, and staff to support the children. Our goal is to promote happy, healthy, well-adjusted children that feel good about themselves and are ready to enter the school environment with success.

Partnerships with Outside Agencies

We believe that it takes a community to raise a child as we form partnerships with various community organizations to support our families and children. We partner with organizations in our local community such as Erin Oak, Brampton Caledon Community Living, and Peel Inclusion Resource Services (PIRS). We are a proud participant of Raising the Bar – Peel (Raising the Bar is a voluntary program for licensed day care facilities in Peel Region that are committed to continuously improving the quality of child care). We also work with the Region of Peel, Child Development Resource Connection Peel (CDRCP) and many other community based programs. We also help connect parents to resources in the community to meet the specific needs of their child.

Partnership with Parents

Little Stars highly encourages parent participation. We know that parent’s know best when it comes to their children. We develop partnerships with parents to ensure that we meet the individual needs of each child. Communication with parents is very important to us and we are sure to communicate with them each day. We have an App called "Lillio" which we use to communicate with parents throughout the day. The teachers post pictures of the children and any information that parents would like to know about their children. The App allows the parents to send messages and comments directly to their teachers. Parents are always welcome to call the facility at any time. Input from parents is encouraged and always welcomed. We utilize social media and encourage parents to follow us on Facebook (Little Stars Daycare Brampton) as we do post reminders, special activities, and in the event of a closure due to bad weather it will be posted on there. We request that parents conduct themselves in a respectful manor while on the premises or while out on a fieldtrip with the children. Any harassment whether physical, verbal or emotional towards other parents, children or the staff will not be tolerated. Any parent found to be harassing to others will receive one warning then will not be permitted on the premises or at any special event held by Little Stars. If the harassment continues your child may be discharged.
